Visit at the TNG of Prof. Sergio Scopetta, Science Attaché of the Italian Embassy in Madrid.

The 5th of October, on the occasion of the Celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the MAGIC telescope, the recently appointed Science Attaché of the Italian Embassy in Madrid Prof. Sergio Scopetta had the opportunity to visit the Island of La Palma and the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory.

At the Ceremony for the 20th Anniversary of the MAGIC Cherenkov Telescope, Prof. Scopetta could extend his congratulations, and the ones of the Italian Embassy, to all the researchers of the MAGIC Collaboration for this important milestone and for the scientific results obtained until now. The Italian Embassy closely follows the evolution of the prominent Italian contribution to MAGIC and to several other important facilities in the area.

After a visit to the 10m class telescope, GranTeCan, with its Director Romano Corradi, Prof.Scopetta had the opportunity to discover our Telescopio Nazionale Galileo through the explanations of the Director Adriano Ghedina.

The Scientific Counselor could listen about the technological details of the Telescope and of its instrumentation as well as the numerous scientific results obtained with the TNG: they allow the TNG to be an observing structure of which to be proud and which is still able to compete between worldwide top class scientific research facilities.

Both with the TNG and the participation at the MAGIC collaboration in La Palma, but also with the contribution to LST and CTA and the ongoing installation of the ASTRI Mini Array in Tenerife, Italy is confirming its support to the development of Astronomical and Astrophysical Research in the Canary Islands and more general in Spain.
