GEneric cLAssification TOol

Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG) offers GELATO, a publicly available online tool for comparison and classification of Supernova (SN) spectra. GELATO (GEneric cLAssification TOol) is developed in the SN group of Padova Observatory and uses spectra of all SN types from Asiago SN Archive as templates of comparison. The GELATO web interface is hosted and maintained by TNG and is available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es. GELATO web interface allows a rapid classification of newly discovered SNe, as well as comparisons of SN spectra with the aim to find out objects with similar physical properties.

GELATO features include the fast processing (typically less than 5-7 seconds) and friendly user interface. Moreover, the tool does not require any additional installations on the users' machines and is accessible with standard web browsers. These characteristics render GELATO a unique and valuable tool for the astronomical community. A coupling of GELATO with ToO (Target of Oportunity) observations of newly discovered SNe will exploit the whole power of the tool, allowing real-time and reliable classifications of the SNe within few minutes after their observations.
