Thank you, Daniele: celebrating years of service at the TNG

The Fundación Galileo Galilei warmly thanks Daniele Carosati, Telescope Operator at Telescopio Nazionale Galileo, as he concludes his professional activity in May 2026. Born in Gualdo Tadino (Perugia, Italy) many years ago Daniele joined our team in June 2011, serving for fifteen years as a Telescope Operator. During his service, he played a fundamental role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the telescope, contributing night after night to the success of scientific observations. His work supported the execution of around one thousand observing nights in both visitor and service modes, helping to maintain the high operational standards of one of the world's leading 3.6-m class optical/infrared facilities.

The role of Telescope Operator at the TNG requires precision, responsibility, and constant readiness to respond to changing night-time conditions as well as responsibility for identifying and potentially resolving technical issues at the telescope or its instruments.

"Daniele begun working for the TNG even before becoming our employee. Thanks to his expertise in photometric observations with his robotic stations, Daniele gave us important hints on how to develop the new robotic DIMM at the TNG."" says A.Ghedina director of the TNG. "We have to thank Daniele for what has given to the TNG and we know that the collaboration with him will not end here, as from his own observatory he is still involved in professional observations of variable objects as blazars and comets."" Beyond his technical expertise, he is remembered for his strong team spirit and dedication, which significantly contributed to the efficiency and scientific productivity of the telescope throughout his years of service. "It has been an honour for me to be part of this wonderful team, from whom I have learned so much. It will be a privilege to remain in touch and stay open to future collaborations. My heartfelt thanks to everyone" Daniele saids.
