Welcome to the TNG team, Francisco Galindo

We are pleased to welcome Francisco Galindo (Paco), who joined the Fundación Galileo Galilei – INAF on 1 July 2026, as a Telescope Operator.

The Telescope Operator plays a key role in the successful execution of scientific observations at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo. During observing sessions, the Telescope Operator is responsible for the operation and control of the telescope, ensuring that observations are carried out safely and efficiently. The role also involves continuously monitoring weather conditions throughout the night, as well as keeping a close watch on the telescope and its instruments to identify any anomalies or technical issues that may require immediate attention.

Working as a Telescope Operator requires precision, responsibility, and constant readiness to respond to changing night-time conditions. It also demands a thorough knowledge of the telescope and its systems, together with the ability to promptly assess and manage unexpected situations that may arise during observations.

We are delighted to have Paco join the TNG team and wish him a rewarding experience working under the dark skies of La Palma.
